Restorative Myofascial Yoga

Energy Unwinding is currently not teaching public classes. Restorative Myofascial Yoga is on offer to current clients only.

Below is a list of recommended self-care tools. Your therapist will work with you to identify tools that are appropriate for you.

  1. Foam Roller: This is the primary tool that we will use, so you will want to purchase this online or from your local sports store. You can use a 6” in diameter foam roller, or even a half roller which takes the standard 6” and makes it 3” in diameter, or, for those of us more petite or wanting to be lower to the ground, you may want to purchase a 4” foam roller. Either one will support you well in this class.

  2. Yoga Blocks: This is also in the short list of primary tools needed to keep you safe in the longer holds of this restorative practice. There are a lot of cheaper yoga blocks, but they can be soft and therefore unsupportive as your yoga practice develops. The following is the therapists recommendation:

  3. MFR Ball: You may already have a ball that you can use as long as it is not a tennis ball, lacrosse ball, softball, basically, any ball that is not overly hard and has a bit of give (so is not inflated full). Let me know if I can mail one to you. I will provide the ball, you simply cover postage which is currently $4.00

  4. Yoga Blankets: You may opt to use your own blankets. If so, please be sure that the blankets you use do not slip and slide when folded. If you decide early or later that you would like yoga blankets, this link will take you to

  5. Yoga Bolster: As you grow with the class, or if you are an early adopter, you may want to purchase a yoga bolster which will allow you to more easily set up class for yourself. Blankets are great, but can become a little cumbersome to move in the transition of poses.

  6. Towels: You may want to set aside a medium sized towel (the next size up from a hand towel), and a bath towel for additional support.
